Title: Harley Quinn
Artist:Arkam city concept artist
Meduim:unknown

The above is a concept art design for the character Harley Quinn. because it is concept art not much is known about the artist who actually created it. However i HAD too add this one to my collection because i simply love it. it has a realistic/comic-book type feel too it. This is how American comics are mainly stylized. what i want too speak on about it is the way the artist colored the pic. The shading, and colors are EXCELLENT. i also love the body and figure work. the muscle for her shoulder, and underarm was shaded perfectly. I also love the feeling that's given here. It appears too me that Harley Quinn is giving up her old look, thus crushing her past identity, and taking on a new look trying to develop a new attitude. The attention too detail given in her hair and clothes are simply phenomonal. I can tell just by looking that this, it may have taken the artist so much work, Just too get the facial expression just right. I've never attempted too really draw American styled heroes and villans. Well i did attempt my favorite, Spiderman, and a few of his villans. I have always however been blown away by the amount detail and foucus that artist such as this put into there characters. i know i could never do it like they can, but This is truly an excellent pic, gotta love Harley Quinn hahaha!

title:none
Artist:Tite Kubo
Medium: pencil and ink

Going back to the central focus of my art collection. Here i give you an actual manga page from the manga Bleach. Bleach was created by Tite Kubo, Kubo was the son of a town concil member. he was inspired to create manga after reading the manga Saint Seiya. He created Zombie powder first, it only ran for 27 chapters then was canceled. It wasn't succesful at all, mainly because Kubo took advice from his editor instead of his own ideas, and on top of that he was in a very bad emotional state. He was in a position to give up on the manga industry until he was inspired to create another manga that he would purely use his own ideas on. That manga was Bleach, Bleach is now one of the most poupular manga ever made, and it's rivaled only by Naruto, and One Piece. The artist, Tite Kubo, in my opinion, doesn't have the best of story telling skills. For me however, it's the art that mainly make the manga, and through artwork Kubo delivers. The scene depicted is of the main character, Ichigo Kurosaki being stabbed through the chest by a close friend of his, Rukia Kuchki. Although it was to really help Ichigo regain his powers that he had lost, he doesn't know yet what's going on. So he believes his closest friend has betrayed him. the expression on his face clearly depicts the pain he feels. He believes that his friend truly came to kill him, and he is completly shocked beyond words. I LOVE this purely for the feeling it gives, also for the expressions both characters give off. While Ichigo's is one of pain and confusion, Rukia's is one of accomplishment, and happiness, because she knows that by stabbing him with the sword she will be able to restore her friend to his former self, and ultimatly give his life back. Kubo's artwork is just amazing. i seek too create a simular style, but not EXACTLY the same. It's always good to use another's art for inspiration, but it's also essential to create your own style of it as well. I'm glad Kubo's an inspiration for me, through him i know i will create something truly great one day.

Title:Sistene chapel
Artist:Michelangelo
Medium: unknown
Stepping away from Anime for a moment, i'd like to show you a diffrennt kind of art piece in my collection. This is a section of Michelangelo's Sistene Chapel. the Sistene chapel was a work that was meant to illustrate the events of the Genisis book in the bible. That in itself can explain half of my fasination with it. as an illustrator, i know the challenge to take someones words and create it in your own vision can be a little difficult if the words aren't your own. For Michealangelo to have taken the scene from the bible where God creates man, and portray it like this! it shows that he truely was an amazing artist, someone who definitly was a factor in creating the art we see today. Michelangelo was born on  March 6, 1475. After the death of his mother, he lived with his father. Who would later send him too a school too learn grammer, but like most artist Michelangelo showed little intrest in schooling, he rather focused on copying paintings from churches. he was later apprenticed to the painter Domenico Ghirlandaio. from then on he would begin his life as an artist. In his adult life, Michelangelo would go on to create many masterpieces in art. Such as the Statue of David, and the pieta, but his crowning work will always be when he was commisioned to make the Sistene chapel. The amount of detail in this work is unreal. It's painted realistically, the figurework is outstanding. It clearly is a great depiction of the creation of man. It just does it's job and does it well. I doubt my skills will ever be on par with Michealangelo's, but seeing his work truly is inspiring. i hope to one day i can create a piece that can effect and have such an impact on the art world such as this did. It's certainly one of the best with no question.

Title:Nausicaa
Author: Studio Ghibli illustrator
medium: ink, pencil watercolor

My favoite movie pertaining to anime so far, currently, is Nausicaa of the valley of the wind. The movie is a Studio Ghibli production, directed by one of the greatest anime film producers of all time Hayao Miyazaki. Hayao Miyazaki is the genuis not only behind this film, but also other famous anime films such as Spirited away, and Princess mononoke. the storys he creates have ALWAYS fasinated me. Even as a child, I loved princess Mononoke. When i got older, i decided to look up his other films. That's when i discovered Nausicaa of the valley of th wind, and i was completly taken with it. It was amazing in my eyes, i loved the characters, the world, and the story being told. I'm not exactly sure who the author of this painting that i posted is, and whether or not it's a watercolor painting is realy just a guess. looking at how washed out the colors look though. I think watercolor is a pretty accurate guess. I love the look of this...the color definitly gives it that old world feel..the darks, and lights of the colors really draw me in as well. i love how her pants were shaded. and how the hair looks so vibrant. I do wish the illustrator gave her face my tone, such as he did with her neck and arms, of some sort. However! that doesn't make it a bad picture at all. I love it nonetheless for what the illustrator DID do. It's just as an artist, I always try too look for what can make something i like even better. Nausicaa is beutiful, and how the illustrator handeled this greatly depicted this. Really love this pic! i hope to do something simular one day.

Title:Naruto
Artist: Mamashi Kishimoto
Medium: Copic Markers, ink, pencil, water-color

Of course if i'm doing an art collection mostly centered around manga, and anime then my collection would not be complete without a piece from Mamashi Kishimoto. The piece that i have included, is voulume cover art for the 7th installment of the manga series Naruto. Naruto is the most poupular manga series out today, and arguebly the greatest manga of all time. Mamashi Kishimoto is the genuis behind Naruto.  Masashi Kashimoto was born on November 8, 1974 as the older identical twin of Seishi Kishimoto in the Okayama Prefecture, Japan. He grew up watching and drawing characters from many manga and anime such as Dr. Slump, and kinnikuman. His major inspiration however was the work of Akira Toriyama. Akira is the creator of Dragon ball, which in my opinion and surely Mamashi's is the greatest manga of all time. Mamashi Kishimoto would later by 1997 release a one shot manga called Naruto which would be published in Akamaru Jump Summer. and now it is a HUGE success, not only attracting many fans in Japan, but the U.S as well. Mamashi will forever be immortalized as one of the greatest mangaka whoever lived, alongide his idol Akira Toriyama. What i like about this most is the actual poses of the characters themselves. I am an artist who LOVES too see cool, gestural movement, or dynamic poses. In this pic i love how Naruto appears too be hunched over, and have a fearsome look on his face. While his friend Sasuke sits behind him, in a pose that shows "hey if you get past him you have to deal with me" or that kind of look. it shows that the two are together against whatever force threatens them, and with one of the antagonist Orachimaru faded by water color, as an after thought in the back. it shows the force that opposes them. Also it is a good fill for the negative space. Although it's one of Mamashi's earlier works, it's awesome, he did a great job with the colors, characters everything! It's great!!

Chasing Your Dreams

in our last class we watched a documeteray on a print making artist known as Amos Kennedy. he had peculiar behaivor, but at times when he needed to be, he showed that he was truly a genius which is something i particullary got a kick out of. When the question was raised "what do you like about the film?". I wanted too give my thoughts, but i was afraid to really speak my mind to be perfectly honest. Now however, i wish to share what i liked about the film, which i found truly inspiring. Amos at first worked in the buisness world. he was very well-off even had kids. however he was never truly happy until he discovered print making. When he did he finnally discovered what his true calling was, and knew he was destined too be a print maker. he gave up the buisness industry, and did what he loved , by becoming an artist. That for me was so! inspiring. I like to look at myself as an artist, however time and time again, im told what i do is not REAL art. To want too be a manga illustrator in alot of peoples eyes is frowned upon. ECSPECIALLY with most art teachers. They say it looks too cartooney, and shows no real value. For some that is the case, however for those who really work at it. studying and understanding many diffrent forms of art, and its principles are the only way we can create the artwork that we do. For some teachers to say my work isn't art is just completly ridiculous. they see it as simple. However they have no idea of the time it took too get an eye drawn completly perfect. or get the shading tones or color tones just right. They just instantly see CARTOON. so they put down, and discourage something that's my passion, and i think that's utter garbage. Art is not defined by another artist previous work, but how YOU express yourself through some sort of medium,  or talent, well that's what i believe. If i didn't wanna go futher with my artwork i don't know what i would do. Illustration is everything too me and i wish too pursue it no matter who, or what puts me down. it is my passion, and i will do what God put me on this planet to do. It makes me truly happy too create something purely from my imagination, and try too bring it too life. I love it, and to whoever is reading this, i suggest you do whatever makes you happy. No matter what it is, if your called to do it, then do it. Chase your dreams, and make them reality

Here's just a little somthing i've been working on ^__^d!!...it's a character for a manga of mine

Albright Knox gallery

on our last excursion we took a trip too the Albright Knox art gallery. There we came upon many diffrent types of artworks by many famous artist. we also were introuduced too the work of the 80's as well. which was so fasinating too see. my favorite thing in the tour was definitly seeing the room of photos by Cindy Sherman . Cindy Sherman's work is phenomonal in my opinion. What i loved about it was that her pictures uniquely told a story too her audience. in one scene you would see something happning like for example, two people would be talking. Then in the next scene a new character would enter the scene. Then next, the two characters would interact with the new character in a negative, or positive way, judging by the characters apperance. Or at least something along those lines. it was great! heres a depiction of one of the many images that Cindy Sheman inserted into her piece.

The Albright Know is an awesome place too see amazing artwork of many diffrent types. Although the kind of art im completly taken with is not, and may never be in the Albright Knox. It's still an awesome place too see art none the less. i've taken so many trips there in my life time. and had too do alot of reports on many diffrent types of artist in High school. although i wans't too pleased on my report having too be 5 pages. it taught me how too truly appreciate artwork, and be able too get into detail about the kind of works that may catch my eye. that in itself has improved me as an artist. and it's a skill i will continue to work on as i carry on. you can have a favorite work of art however! as an artist it's beneficial to always be able to explore other forms of art as well. who knows, maybr by looking and being inspired by diffrent kinds of artist. the work that you mainly do can undergoe amazing changes, because of your drive too discover other forms of art as well.
